Mental Keys

Let Denver make their mental mistakes. In their first meeting, Denver consistently allowed the Chiefs extra yardage in key situations by committing dumb penalties. This has been a continuing trend for the Broncos throughout the season. Denver currently commits the seventh most penalties per game and the third most penalty yardage. From those numbers we can see that the Broncos are penalized often and for big yardage. One of the reasons the Broncos may be without a key defender in Aqib Talib is because he lost his cool against Indianapolis and (clearly) intentionally poked Colts’ tight end Dwayne Allan in the eye. The Chiefs must live up to their ranking as the third least penalized team this week and let Denver give away field position with bad decisions.

Realistically speaking, the Chiefs have a legitimate shot in this game but they need to execute in all keys that I described. I have yet to see the Chiefs do all of those things against a quality opponent this season and therefore I am still picking Denver to win this game. It will be close and hard fought but Denver still possesses too much talent to lose to Kansas City at home.

What do you think, Addicts? Do the Chiefs have enough to win this week?
