Lions at Chiefs: AA lounge

Welcome to gameday! This has to be one of the most exciting sports weekends in Kansas City history. The Kansas City Royals are taking on the New York Mets in Game 5 of the World Series, with a win meaning their first championship since 1985.

Meanwhile, the KansasCity Chiefs are playing their first international game in team history, as they technically host the Detroit Lions at Wembley Stadium in London, England. The Chiefs desperately need to win this game to keep playoff hopes alive. With a 2-5 record, the Chiefs would certainly not be out of the postseason race in the AFC with a victory across the pond.

The good news? The Lions are even worse than the Chiefs to this point. Detroit won 11 games and earned a playoff berth last season, but this year the wheels have completely come off. The Lions are 1-6 and started this week by firing almost all of their offensive coaching staff, including offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi. Amazingly, Lombardi is being replaced by Jim Bob Cooter. Yes, that is his real name. Even more amazingly, he also coached the Chiefs at one point.

As for the injury front, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is making his return to the lineup after missing a game due to his concussion. Maclin is back, but unfortunately defensive end Mike DeVito is still recovering from his concussion and has been ruled out. Guard Ben Grubbs is also out with a neck injury, hopefully one he can recover from over the upcoming BYE week.
