Do the Chiefs Have the Royals “Never Give Up” (NGU) Attitude?

I’ve found myself being rather critical of the Chiefs performances and deservedly so. However, I have to give credit where credit is due. I haven’t heard any player making comments that would even slightly indicate that they have given up on this season.

The Royals are the pride of Kansas City right now. They have worked themselves into position to win baseball’s biggest prize and one common thread that seems to run throughout their club house is: never give up.

Alex Gordon’s at bat in the bottom of the ninth of game one in which he eventually produced a home run to the deepest part of center field… was a great example of the team’s “Never Give Up” mindset.

The Chiefs are not mathematically out of the playoffs and so it stands to reason that if they can embody the Royals demeanor… anything can happen.

I watched every second of every 2014 World Series game so I know how painful it was to see the Royals leave the tying run stranded 90 feet away in the ninth inning of game seven. A game they only scored two runs in… after scoring 10 runs in game six.

So close. So much pain.

The Royals took that pain and channeled it back into a 95 win season and their record breaking second World Series in a row.

Who knows how this year’s series will turn out but it’s clear that we all could take a lesson or two from these 2015 K.C. Royals.

Especially the 2015 K.C. Chiefs.
