Chiefs injuries: Ben Grubbs, Mike DeVito out

The Kansas City Chiefs are going for their third win of the season on Sunday when they play the Detroit Lions at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

For the Chiefs, every game is of mass importance. A loss against the 1-6 Lions would spell the absolute end of this team having any hope of making the playoffs. The week is off to a good start for the most part, with the team traveling to London on Wednesday night after practice.

However, there are some injury concerns. Defensive end Mike DeVito is still not practicing due to a concussion he sustained against the Minnesota Vikings. Inside linebacker Ramik Wilson is also not on the field due to some knee and ankle issues, and offensive linemen Ben Grubbs is sidelined with an unspecified injury.

On the good side of things, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin cleared his concussion tests last week and should be ready to play on Sunday. Maclin’s return will give the Chiefs a terrific weapon against a Detroit defense that does not employ any elite defensive backs. As Pete Sweeney noted, outside linebacker Tamba Hali is practicing, which is always good news.

Kansas City is favored to beat Detroit in this neutral site game, and if it can get the job done, would have a little bit of momentum heading into the BYE week. Coming off the break, the Chiefs travel to play the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers.
