The Kansas City Chiefs got off the snide last week, and yours truly picked against them. I’m ashamed and emotionally defeated. I no longer deserve to be running this site, let alone commenting on anything Chiefs football.

Yet, I’m still here and ready to party. After some deep soul-searching, I’m going tgo move forward, hoping that Kansas City can do the same. The Chiefs have another winnable game on the schedule, although it will be played in Wembley Stadium at London, England. Here are the Week 8 NFL picks:

Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs (-6)

Kansas City (2-5) is still in brutal position, but a win over Pittsburgh last week at least gives you the feeling that there is a pulse. Detroit (1-6) is trying to get used to a new offensive coaching staff, after firing everyone on Monday. The Lions new offensive coordinator? Jim Bob Cooter. Ballgame.

Pick: Kansas City 22, Detroit 13

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (-7.5)

New England (6-0) is far and away the best team in the AFC. The Patriots are going to the Super Bowl for the seventh time in the Tom Brady era. Meanwhile, Miami (3-3) is excited because it beat up on Houston and Tennessee.

Pick: New England 38, Miami 23

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons (-7.5)

Atlanta (6-1) is actually a pretty good team and Tampa Bay (2-4) just blew a 24-opint lead to the Redskins. This should be nothing short of an absolute slaughter at the Georgia Dome.

Pick: Atlanta 31, Tampa Bay 20
