Good morning, Addicts! If you live in Kansas City and root for all its teams, you should be feeling chipper. Today brings Game 3 of the American League Championship Series, and Johnny Cueto is on the mound for the Royals at Rogers Centre. If the Kansas City Chiefs are the only team in the area you care about – like myself – you are probably dreading another day of reading about this team.
I want to say that I appreciate you coming back, day after day, to Arrowhead Addict. We will try to keep giving you food for thought and some fun stuff to think about while this team scuffles. Hopefully, one day, things will change.
Here’s the news you need to know:
Another brutal and embarrassing loss means this season is doomed – Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star
"They have a quarterback who can’t play from behind, and an offense that can’t get ahead. The defense has played relatively well the last two weeks, but before that, the team had given up more points in three consecutive weeks than in any game last year. Heck, even Dustin Colquitt shanked a punt against the Vikings. Maybe his leg is tired from overuse."
Without Jamaal Charles, the offense is useless in loss – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"And on top of it all, the Chiefs might be without leading wide receiver Jeremy Maclin in next week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Arrowhead Stadium. Maclin, after hitting his head on the artificial turf, was taken to the locker room in the fourth quarter and was being evaluated for a concussion."
Derrick Johnson fed up with team’s performance – Blair Kerkhoff of the Kansas City Star
"But the Chiefs continue to find ways to lose. A fumble return for a touchdown in the final minute against the Broncos started the skid and felt like a gut punch to the Chiefs. Sunday’s locker room was just as disconsolate."
