Good morning, Addicts! The Kansas City Chiefs are at least still giving us Red Friday, which is always an exciting time for Chiefs Kingdom. Look, we want Kansas City to be good, but at least for now we have the days leading up to the game when we can have hope and dreams.

In the meantime, you can all wait for the Kansas City Royals to take on the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Championship Series. Can the Royals get to a second consecutive World Series? Maybe they have a little magic left in the satchel.

Anyway, here is the news you need to know:

Alex Smith trying to lead the Chiefs through a tough timeDave Skretta of the Associated Press

"So when Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles went down with a season-ending knee injury in the third quarter of last weekend’s game against Chicago, and Kansas City lost another heartbreaker at home to fall to 1-4 on the season, people predictably turned their attention to Alex Smith."

Charcandrick West taking over for Jamaal CharlesAdam Teicher of ESPN

"West played in college at Abilene Christian, a Division II school in Texas. He joined the Chiefs last year as an undrafted rookie and spent the first half of the season on their practice squad before being promoted to the active roster. He played mostly on special teams."

Brad Childress returns to Minnesota with the ChiefsBen Goessling of ESPN

"The 59-year-old coach wasn’t a popular man when he left town, though he’ll probably be well removed on Sunday from the ire he faced at the end of his coaching tenure. Still, his return gives us a chance to take a brief trip down memory lane and revisit a chaotic, dramatic and ultimately inimitable stretch in Vikings history."
