Coffee with the Chiefs – Front office under pressure

Good morning, Addicts! Sorry for the absence over the past couple of days. I sustained second-degree burns on my left hand over the weekend which are still healing, and it made it impossible to type. As it is, I’m still a bit slower than I would like to be.

Enough about all that, though. It is HUMP DAYYYYYYY. For all of us working stiffs, that means only a few more days in the office before we go home and do whatever we want. It’s a beautiful thing. Alright, here is the news you need to know:

Andy Reid and John Dorsey are under pressure after poor startJeffri Chadiha of NFL.com

"At 1-4, the Chiefs are just about invisible in the playoff picture. But the bigger issue revolves around Reid — and his sidekick, general manager John Dorsey — moving forward. This was supposed to be the year when it all came together for Reid in Kansas City, when two years of coaching and personnel moves gave birth to a team poised to claim the AFC West crown."

Is Jamaal Charles’ future in doubt with Kansas City?Evan Massey of Forbes

"During the 2015 season up until his torn ACL this past week, Charles had carried the football 71 times for 364 yards and four touchdowns. He was one of the best running backs in the NFL and was poised to continue his big season throughout the rest of the year. Unfortunately, there is no question that this injury puts his NFL future in doubt as far as whether or not he will return to his full explosiveness."

The elephant in the roomLeigh Oleszczak of KC Kingdom

"We’ll have to see what happens with Knile Davis and Charcandrick West this season to determine what the Chiefs should do for sure, but honestly, it might be wise for Kansas City to spend an early draft pick on a running back. That, before 2015’s draft, was a rare feat."
