Coffee with the Chiefs – What to expect

facebooktwitterreddit

Good morning, Addicts! It’s GAME DAYYYYYYYY. The Kansas City Chiefs are heavy favorites to beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium, something they must do to keep any hopes of making a playoff run alive. The Bears could be without a host of prominent players including Alshon Jeffery, Antrel Rolle, Jermon Bushrod, Will Montgomery and more.

At home, the Chiefs will try to get back on the horse. Kansas City should be able to move the ball and certainly pressure quarterback Jay Cutler, who is behind a makeshift offensive line.

Here is the news you need to know:

Predicting the Chiefs vs. BearsJoel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride

"Both teams need this win. The Bears and Chiefs are both 1-3, but they’re looking at a stretch where it is possible to be even at 3-3 after six weeks. The Bears already beat the Raiders last week and face the pitiful Lions next week, so they’re picturing a mental three-game win streak on their positive thinking days. The Chiefs, on the other hand, need a rebound but are likely picturing the same winning scenario since the Bears represent a serious fall from the level of their most recent competition."

Previewing Sunday’s game against the BearsTerez Paylor of the Kansas City Star

"The Chiefs’ last three opponents are a combined 12-0, so there’s a pretty good chance the Chiefs aren’t as bad as their record. And while it must be considered a disappointment that they did not compete better against the league’s best, though doesn’t mean the season is already a wash. The Bears are coming off their first win of the season, but expect the Chiefs to get back on the right track here and set up a big road test against a frisky Minnesota team next week."

Chris Conley could be looking at increased playing timeTerez Paylor of the Kansas City Star

"That means rookie receiver Chris Conley, started in Wilson’s place Sunday and was targeted seven times and caught two passes for 53 yards including a 44-yarder from quarterback Alex Smith, could again get the starting nod this Sunday against the Chicago Bears."
