Chiefs injuries: Josh Mauga out, Albert Wilson limited

The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping to have wide receiver Albert Wilson back for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium. While that remains uncertain, Wilson does appear to be making some progress.

Wilson was listed on the team’s official injury report on Wednesday as limited with a shoulder injury, and will be listed in the same capacity for Thursday. If Wilson continues to practice on a limited basis, it is likely he will be a game-time decision for head coach Andy Reid.

Last week, Wilson was not active against the Cincinnati Bengals and was replaced in the starting lineup by a combination of Chris Conley and Jason Avant. Conley caught two passes for 53 yards while Avant hauled in four passes for 43 yards. In three games, Wilson has just three catches for 25 yards, being a disappointment after a promising end to his rookie campaign.

Beyond Wilson, the only notable on the injury report is inside linebacker Josh Mauga. Mauga was forced to leave Sunday’s game with a groin sprain, and has not been able to get into practice this week. Mauga was listed as out for Wednesday’s work and will be the same on Thursday, per B.J. Kissel of KCChiefs.com.

If Mauga can’t play, look for rookie Ramik Wilson to get his first National Football League start. Wilson was drafted in the fourth round out of the University of Georgia and has seen most of his playing time on special teams this year. In the preseason, Mauga missed ample time with a heel problem, allowing Wilson to rack up a ton of time with the first team. Wilson was impressive then, and hopefully that carries over into the regular season.
