Coffee with the Chiefs – Ready for Cincy?
Good morning, Addicts! Give yourself a huge pat on the back, you made it to another weekend. Maybe this time you can go get some apple cider, pick a few pumpkins and enjoy racking up some leaves. It is that time of year, which is of course football weather. There are some terrific college games on Saturday, with the Kansas City Chiefs providing the main event on Sunday.
Here is the news you need to know:
Will Alex Smith and the Chiefs be ready for the Bengals’ blitz – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"The Chiefs know exactly what it was coming here with Cincinnati’s defense. The Bengals think DT Geno Atkins can exploit the Chiefs interior offensive line and Alex Smith will bail early. Cincinnati has six sacks this season but last year they were last in the league with just 20 sacks. However, until the Chiefs prove they can avoid the sacks when pressure is brought, I expect Cincinnati to bring it."
Kansas City worked on free play before Green Bay game, but still failed – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"It didn’t matter. The Chiefs were burned twice for big plays after going offside when Rodgers recognized he had nothing to lose by taking a chance with a deep ball. He threw a 27-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of the first half to James Jones after Tamba Hali jumped to give the Packers a 24-7 lead."
Six points: Chiefs vs. Bengals – Associated Press
"With Green surely the focal point for the Chiefs’ defense, Dalton must look to spread the ball around, particularly to his big tight end. Eifert was held without a catch in Baltimore as he was targeted just three times, although he did have a touchdown overturned by replay. Eifert had 13 for 153 yards and three touchdowns in Cincinnati’s first two games. Don’t count on a repeat performance of last Sunday."
