Houston Texans: Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins’ availability for Sunday is in question as he has been held out of practice with concussion symptoms.  With Arian Foster still out, the Texans cannot afford to lose their star wide receiver.

Miami Dolphins:  The Dolphins took a pretty brutal beating, health-wise, this past Sunday.  Starting left tackle Branden Albert is the worst for wear as he is unlikely to play this week due to a hamstring issue.

  • Chiefs’ take: While the Chiefs have had their share of offensive line problems, one cannot fault John Dorsey from moving on from Branden Albert.  Albert hasn’t played poorly for the Dolphins…just rarely.  And in the NFL, the most important ability is “avail”ability.

New England Patriots: The Patriots have given linebacker Jonathan Freeny a one-year extension on his contract.  Freeny was signed as a special teams player, but has shown the Pats that he has more value than that.

New York Jets:  The Jets will likely be without wide receiver Eric Decker this week as he deals with a knee sprain.  However, he was at least a limited participant in practice on Thursday.

Oakland Raiders: The Raiders have claimed former Redskins defensive back, David Amerson, off of waivers.  Amerson fits in well with a young, more potential than production, defensive backfield in Oakland.

Chiefs’ take

: The Raiders snagged a guy I liked a lot for the Chiefs.  Amerson hasn’t shown much in the NFL, but his size and natural ability make him a quality prospect for Coach Thomas and Coach Harris to work with.  Would have fit in nicely as the final corner on the roster after the return of Sean Smith.

Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles quarterback situation continues to be the laughing stock of the league as they signed veteran Thad Lewis to the depth chart.  Chip Kelly’s plan at quarterback so far has been…fun.  Meanwhile, the defense has suffered a major blow as linebacker Kiko Alonso will be out this week with a sprained knee.  To complicate that further, fellow inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks’ status is also in question with a hamstring injury.  And, one final complication for the mix, running back DeMarco Murray is also struggling with a hamstring issue, as well as some frustration issues with his role in the offense.

Seattle Seahawks:  Star safety Kam Chancellor has finally ended his holdout.  Great news for the Seahawks who have gone 0-2 without him, but have also refused to budge on contract talks.  That sets a strong precedent for future negotiations for the organization.
