How the Chiefs can beat the Packers

Key No. 3: Pursue the big play on offense.

The Chiefs have to hit on the big play.  This team excels at grinding teams down, both with long drives on the offensive side of the ball and punishing defense on the other.

However, the Chiefs are not known for outscoring their opponents. The last thing the Chiefs need is to be in a shootout with Green Bay. Kansas City does not have the quarterback for it.

Controlling the tempo of the game and the defense doing what it does best needs to be the game plan for Monday.

But this team needs to switch it up.

Aim for the big play of offense, whether that be a big run by Jamaal, or a catch-and-run by wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.

Force the Packers to cover all parts of the field, rather than stack the box against Jamaal or allowing them to tear into the offensive line and mess with Smith.

Beyond the offense the big play can even come from special teams.

De’Anthony Thomas is a special player, and he is always so close to breaking it every time he gets the ball.

The big-play capability of the Chiefs is there, they simply need to allow themselves to try for it. Alex needs to let loose and not be afraid. It has been said to be a good quarterback you need to have a short memory. Smith needs to let last Thursday go and let it rip.

There are a lot of positives the Chiefs have heading into this game.
