Coffee with the Chiefs – Eric Berry is back

Good morning, Addicts! It’s HUMP DAYYYYYYYY. We are getting closer to another weekend, and that means plenty of great things. It means spending time with friends and family. It means not going to work and staying out late. And most importantly (half-joking), we have football of both the college and pro nature. Of course we will be waiting an extra day for the Kansas City Chiefs, who play Monday night against the Green Bay Packers.

Here is the news you need to know:

Eric Berry is looking like his former selfAdam Teicher of ESPN

"Berry’s playing time was still a good sign for both him and the Chiefs. After playing 48 of 77 snaps as a backup plus seven plays on special teams in the season-opening game in Houston, Berry was in for 71 of 73 plays plus six in the kicking game against Denver."

Fumbles, like big plays, are part of who Jamaal Charles isAdam Teicher of ESPN

"Charles has been tied for or within one of the league lead in fumbles for non-quarterbacks every season since he returned in 2012 after tearing his ACL. He has 26 fumbles and 18 lost fumbles since 2008, his rookie season. His 26 fumbles are third- most among non-quarterbacks and his 18 lost fumbles are most among non-QBs in that period. That’s due in part to how much he gets the ball."

The Chiefs have issues in the secondary, but it could be worseJoel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride

"So when thrown at, Maxwell is turning the average quarterback into Aaron Rodgers and then some. Peyton Manning completed 9-of-13 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown when throwing at Fleming last week. Certainly not good but what did you expect out of a team’s fourth cornerback?"

Where we gush about Marcus Peters (film study)Seth Keysor of Arrowhead Pride

"Peters was a huge part of that incomplete pass, but not in a way that shows up on any stat sheet. And he was doing it all evening. After halftime Peyton was looking is way much less frequently (a pick-6 will do that to you)."
