“They are going to be a different team to play. They are not going to score the volume of points they that did. They lost their tight end, they lost their left tackle and they really like their young running backs. I think San Diego is still good. I think the Chiefs are good, and I think the Raiders are better.”

La Canfora went on to say that he believes Kansas City has a dynamic duo in Sean Smith and Peters, along with a fierce pass-rush. The CBS insider also says the Chiefs have the deepest group of safeties in the NFL with Eric Berry, Ron Parker, Husain Abdullah and Tyvon Branch.

“I think they will make moves, I think they are an interesting trade team,” La Canfora said. “I hear that because Peters has come on so much, you talk to other teams and they say the Chiefs are willing to move a corner. You talk to other teams who need a safety, and they have safeties. I think they have a real good quarterback room. They like a lot of their young quarterbacks.

“I think Chase Daniel could start in this league. If somebody goes down, someone on a decent team loses a starter, I wouldn’t be surprised if you hear (Zach) Mettenberger, Chase Daniel, guys like that in the conversation. … I know John (Dorsey) is willing to move.”

Finally, we hit the topic of Peyton Manning and the future in Denver. It seems the end is near for this version of Denver’s group.

“I think this is it for him,” La Canfora said. “I could be totally wrong, it is just my impression. I think this is a boom or bust year. … He’s getting older, and he is slowing down. To keep projecting that next year will be better; it is probably not. He is declining now. This might be his last best shot. We will see what that team looks like moving forward as well.

“In a year from now, I don’t think DeMarcus Ware, T.J. Ward and (Aqib) Talib being there. I don’t see Ryan Clady back on this contract. They got the Demaryius (Thomas) thing done, but what about Von Miller and if he has 20 sacks this year? Ownership there is very unstable. Pat Bowlen has a lot of descendants. Nobody knows which way it is going. That could be one where they took that run, we are going to stream-roll now, lower our budget. A couple of these guys are going to leave and they can build around Demaryius and a young quarterback, maybe Von Miller. Everybody else is a luxury.”
