The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos are bitter rivals. Over the last four years, the Broncos have claimed superiority by winning the AFC West in each of those seasons.

Going into 2015, there is much optimism around Kansas City that the Chiefs can unseat Denver and perhaps make a Super Bowl run. Last week, I caught up with CBS NFL insider Jason La Canfora, who sat down with me and spoke about a litany of topics surrounding both teams.

The signing of star receiver Jeremy Maclin quickly was brought up, a move that La Canfora believes has to help what was an anemic passing attack in 2014.

“I think they will be better, but I don’t know how much better,” La Canfora said. “Maclin has to help, right? They have to find a way to have some explosion in that offense. It is in there with the running game with Jamaal Charles but I can remember watching some of their games last year and them down by multiple scores, and Alex Smith throwing seven-yard hitches and outs. It’s like ‘Bro, it’s third and 25, what are you doing?’ It seemed to be their collective mindset. They could not get over the hump and find any explosion in the passing game.”
