When asked why he believes the Chiefs are going to win the AFC West for the first time since 2010, Gonzalez pointed to a number of factors. For starters, Kansas City has some of the best weapons in the league.

“I think offensively they are going to be a lot better,” Gonzalez said. “… I think Kansas City’s offense, with those skill players, those are three potential Pro Bowlers. Travis could go to the Pro Bowl this year and so can Jeremy Maclin and Jamaal Charles. With Alex Smith, I love how he makes plays with his legs. You can never forget about him, he can run that ball. Defensively, they might have the best defense in the division.

“I know Denver is going to be pretty good. John Elway just spoke to us and said the defense is going to be better than it was last year and they have some good players on that team, but Derrick Johnson is one of the best linebackers in the league. Eric Berry is one of the best safeties in the league. Dontari Poe, Justin Houston and Dee Ford can play too. I think they are going to go out there and, if they can stay healthy, I don’t see how they should not win a lot of games.”
