9. Johnny Robinson

Robinson has a legitimate case as the most underrated safety in AFL or NFL history. Robinson has been sadly forgotten to time by most, including many Kansas City fans who have likely never heard of the six-time AFL All-Star selection. This is a man who broke three ribs against the Oakland Raiders in the 1969 AFL Championship game, yet gutted out the Super Bowl and recorded an interception and fumble recovery.

To get an idea of how great Robinson was, here is a list of his accomplishments: Super Bowl champion, six-time First-Team All-Pro, three-time Second-Team All-Pro, Pro Football Hall of Fame 1960s All-Decade team, Pro Football Hall of Fame All-Time AFL team, Pro Football Hall of Fame First Combined All-Pro team, Chiefs All-Time team, two-time league leader in interceptions and the Chiefs Hall of Fame.

Other than that, he’s average.

Robinson absolutely belongs in the Hall of Fame. He also amassed 57 interceptions and 18 touchdowns, basically playing like an old-school Ed Reed who could also play in the box against the run. Somehow, St. Louis Cardinals safety Roger Werhli is in the Hall of Fame, who has great credentials but does not match Robinson in any category.
