20. Jerry Mays
Mays is one of the best AFL players of all-time. Named to the AFL All-Time team, this defensive end was a cornerstone for a Chiefs team that went to a pair of Super Bowls during his career. Mays played from 1961-70 for Kansas City, choosing to sign with the Chiefs over the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings out of the draft.
During his career, the NFL and AFL did not count sacks, but Mays was known as one of the top pass-rushers of his era. Perhaps most impressively, Mays never missed a game during his career. He was part of the great line of the late 60s that featured Hall of Famers Curley Culp and Buck Buchanan.
19. Albert Lewis
Lewis was a phenomenal player on both defense and special teams. A third-round pick of the 1983 NFL Draft, Lewis was stellar in Kansas City from 1983-93 before losing his mind and joining the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders from 1994-98. Lewis was a four-time Pro Bowler and a two-time First-Team All-Pro, and made the Chiefs Hall of Fame.
Lewis registered 42 interceptions and 12.5 sacks, giving Kansas City a dual threat in the secondary. Lewis was also a clutch punt-blocker, doing so 11 times. At 6-foor-2, Lewis had the size and speed to cover any receiver in the game, playing opposite Kevin Ross.
