Good morning, Addicts! The Kansas City Chiefs will be back on the field Saturday to continue their preparations for the “season opener” against the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 15. Here is all the latest news you need to know about.
Chiefs focusing on downfield passing game – Terez Paylor of Kansas City Star
"Smith rarely took chances downfield a year ago, attempting deep throws only 5.2 percent of the time last season. That ranked 37th and dead last among quarterbacks who attempted at least 25 percent of their team’s passes, according to Pro Football Focus."
Kansas City fan really, really dislikes the rest of the AFC West – Jimmy Traina of FOX Sports
"A Chiefs fan really wanted to show his hatred for the team’s AFC West foes, so he got the logos of the Chargers, Raiders and Broncos painted on to his toilet bowl."
Jamaal Charles held out of some contact drills on Friday – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"With Demetrius Harris unable to practice, the Chiefs are already thin at tight end. They lost another tight end, Ryan Taylor, during practice. He took a hit to his leg after catching a pass and was carted away with what the Chiefs called a quadriceps injury. His absence leaves the Chiefs with only rookie James O’Shaughnessy, Richard Gordon and Adam Schiltz behind starter Travis Kelce."
Mailbag: Can Kansas City makes a trade this preseason? – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"The Chiefs may have a surplus of guards and cornerbacks as opposed to safeties when training camp is done. Jeff Allen is in the final year of his contract and I would think he would be expendable if he doesn’t win a starting job. At corner, Jamell Fleming and Marcus Cooper could also be available. I would think Fleming would have more of a market than Cooper. As for what the Chiefs would get in return, I would think a draft pick."
