With Training Camps underway, the majority of the NFL news now focuses on injuries. It’s an unfortunate part of the game, but also one of the more intriguing things about football. Teams can see their entire fortunes turn for the worst based on just a few injuries…as Chiefs fans know all to well.
So here we go…

Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals may have to start the season without one of their top weapons after Michael Floyd had surgery on his dislocated fingers. Floyd is expected to miss three to four weeks, but may not be back in time for the season opener.
Chicago Bears: The Bears may have to start the season without first round pick Kevin White who is suffering from severe shin splints. Many considered White to be the top wide receiver prospect in the draft, and the Bears are expecting him to replace Brandon Marshall.
Cleveland Browns: Linebacker Barkevious Mingo underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee this week. He will likely miss all of Training Camp and possibly the first week of the regular season. Mingo has been a disappointment so far for the Browns…if such a thing still exists.
Detroit Lions: The Lions have signed veteran linebacker Deandre Levy to a four year extension. Levy has been a defensive leader for Detroit over the past few seasons, and the signing comes ahead of what figures to be a major deal in Carolina for Luke Kuechly.
Houston Texans: Start Texans running back Arian Foster will be out for a lengthy period of time after tearing a muscle in his groin. It is expected that the Texans will place him on IR with a designation to return. This will have a major impact on the Houston offense.
- Chiefs’ take: I had the Chiefs beating the Texans in Week 1 anyways. Without Foster, I think it becomes a one-sided affair. As talented as that Houston defense is, we’ve seen what happens to a Romeo Crennel defense when the offense can’t muster up any kind of support.
