I spent the last two days watching the Kansas City Chiefs in St. Joe at training camp. It was fun to get back there and see football without having to watch it on TV. It wasn’t a full out scrimmage but it was enough to tide me through for the next couple of weeks.

Being there to watch Derrick Johnson, Mike DeVito, Mike Catapano, Sanders Commings, and especially Berry in person was amazing. Seeing them all move around on the field and think about where the defense was last year even without three starters. DJ, DeVito and Berry are the core defenders to stop the run at every level of the defense and the Chiefs had to deal with losing all three.

The Chiefs look to be more explosive on offense this season with the addition of Jeremy Maclin, the emergence of De’Anthont Thomas at receiver and Albert Wilson coming further along during his second season. If they can add Chris Conley to that mix along with Travis Kelce running down the middle of the field defending the Chiefs offense will be a lot more difficult to stop.
