Coffee with the Chiefs – Ace Sanders to K.C.?

Good morning, Addicts! Hopefully you have air conditioning, because it has been hot as H-E-double hockey sticks the last few days. Even here in Chicago, it has been about 90 degrees with 348 percent humidity. Other than that, not too bad.

On a side note, it always makes me laugh when people say “Don’t worry, it is going to be a dry heat later in the week.” Oh yeah? My oven is a dry heat too, but I don’t feel like sticking my head in there all day. Regardless, here’s the latest news on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ace Sanders a possibility for the Chiefs?Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride

"The Chiefs are going to be connected to any free agent receiver that has two legs so that’s something to remember. I’m not sure if there’s any legit interest here because Sanders seems kind of like a De’Anthony Thomas type. Rotoworld called him a “gadget player”. On paper it seems like there should be some interest from the Chiefs. But who would Sanders beat out?"

Why Kansas City should hold onto its cap spaceAdam Teicher of ESPN.com

"So that’s about an extra $8 million for the Chiefs to blow. Estimates for their current available funds under the salary cap range from about $8.6 million (the NFL Players Association figure) to $9.6 million (ESPN’s number). Either way, that’s enough cap space for the Chiefs to dive back into the free-agent market."

Reggie Wayne remains availableAlec Tilson of KC Kingdom

"Despite attempting just 493 passes as a team last season (the fifth fewest in the league), the KC Chiefs offense might not be a negative in Wayne’s eyes. He’s an old guy and he’s a possession receiver now with some of the silkiest hands in NFL history; maybe he doesn’t want to join an offense that’s expecting him to catch 100 passes, run seam routes for 16 weeks and, ultimately, take a beating."
