Good morning, Addicts! We are getting closer with every passing second to when the Kansas City Chiefs head to St. Joseph, Mo. and begin designs on the 2015-16 season. As we all know, it will end with the Super Bowl, and perhaps this year our Chiefs will be there. Here’s what is going on around the web.
Dee Ford primed for breakout campaign – Mark Inabineett of AL.com
"So where does Houston’s new contract leave former Auburn standout Dee Ford? On the surface, back on the second-team defense with rookie D.J. Alexander. But it seems almost a given with the Chiefs that Ford will play more in 2015 than he did last year as a rookie, even though both of Kansas City’s starting outside linebackers – Houston and Tamba Hali – were picked for the Pro Bowl last season."
The biggest surprise, and disappointment – Seth Keysor of Arrowhead Pride
"Poe is not only one of the strongest individuals on the field at any given time, he actually DESERVES the description of “dancing bear” that’s so often given to inferior linemen. He’s unbelievably fast for his size. And not just “once he’s up and running” fast the way most defensive linemen are, but he’s actually QUICK. That doesn’t even make sense when you consider his size."
Chiefs mailbag, Part I – Adam Teicher of ESPN.com
"How much money is too much? Yes, $101 million with $52.5 million guaranteed sounds like a lot. But that’s what premier defensive players are being paid these days. It’s the cost of doing business. The Chiefs obviously thought Justin Houston was worth it, and they’re the ones paying the bills."
Chiefs mailbag, Part II – Adam Teicher of ESPN.com
"I don’t see the Chiefs re-signing cornerback Sean Smith after the season, but that doesn’t have anything to do with Houston’s contract. The Chiefs last year drafted one cornerback, Phillip Gaines, in the third round and this year picked two, Marcus Peters and Steven Nelson. They’ve been loading up at cornerback to prepare for Smith’s eventual departure."
