Good morning, Addicts! The Kansas City Chiefs are now less than three weeks away from the start of training camp, but there is plenty to watch before that. By Wednesday, the Chiefs have to come to a long-term deal with outside linebacker Justin Houston. If the two sides can’t agree, Houston has to play the year out on the franchise tag and can’t negotiate a contract until after the season ends.
Kansas City could risk letting Houston play on the tag, but it might further sour relations and furthermore, Houston could decide to sit out the first 10 weeks of the season. Yes, he would forfeit a ton of pay, but he would also make sure he doesn’t get hurt during that time. My guess? Houston sits out for most of camp but is ready to roll Week 1.
Alright, onto the news around the web.
Chiefs looking for game day workers – Martin Augustine of KMBC.com
"The Chiefs said there will be a session for military veterans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and then it will be open to the public from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Parking is available in Lot M (north side.)"
Kansas City’s primetime playmaker – Nick Athan of Scout.com
"Fumbling in the NFL is the games biggest cardinal sin. Kelce, to his credit, generally finds himself in those positions when he tries to extend the ball or fight for extra yards. That’s fine, but giving your opponent the ball after you make a catch, especially if your catch involves moving the chains, simply can’t happen if you want to become one of the games greats."
Top 5 throws from Alex Smith in 2014 – Pete Sweeney of KCChiefs.com
"Smith faked the run to Davis and then looked to pass. No one was open, but the Chiefs offensive line gave him eight seconds with only three Broncos containing the quarterback."
