Coffee with the Chiefs – Justin Houston’s contract
Good morning, Addicts! Hopefully you enjoyed all the news that came out of the Kansas City Chiefs minicamp. The best news of all was that everybody got out healthy. Let’s take a look at what we have going on today from around the internet.
Andy Reid hopeful on Justin Houston situation – Adam Teicher of ESPN.com
"If there’s any comfort for the Chiefs, Houston skipped all offseason practices, including minicamp, last year in the failed hope of spurring a long-term contract. He responded with a huge season in which he led the NFL with 22 sacks."
Sanders Commings’ cousin killed in Charleston – Adam Teicher of ESPN.com
"Pinckney, 41, was one of nine people killed in the shootings Wednesday night at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. He was a reverend at the church."
A big offseason for Kansas City – Leigh Oleszczak of KC Kingdom
"Doug Farrar of Sports Illustrated feels that the Chiefs have had a very impressive off season. In fact, he gave them a B- in his off season report card. Farrar mentioned that Ben Grubbs was the team’s best acquisition and I would agree. Obviously getting Maclin was huge too, but at least the Chiefs have Travis Kelce in the passing game. The offensive line was horrible last season and Grubbs is an immediate upgrade."
Who starts opposite of Jeremy Maclin? – Dan Schmelzer of NFL Spin Zone
"Wilson was the only Chiefs’ receiver who showed consistent ability to get open last season. When the Chiefs finally gave Wilson an opportunity late in the year, defenses seemed willing to defend Wilson man-to-man, and he made them pay simply by running by them. With his impressive strength, Wilson will be very tough to press at the line of scrimmage and his speed and quickness will give him a chance to make plays all over the field."
