Coffee with the Chiefs – Stats to watch and more
Good morning, Addicts! It’s the start of a brand new week (I know some people say that comes on Sunday, but Sunday is on the weekEND. Pay attention.) and I’m excited for the third session of OTAs. With every passing day, we are getting closer to the season-opener against the Houston Texans. If you are counting, we are now under 100 days. Boom. Here’s your latest Kansas City Chiefs news.
Five stats for Chiefs to watch – Russell Baxter of NFL Spin Zone
"Despite his accomplishments, Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles somehow gets lost in the shuffle when we talk about the best player at the position in the NFL. And that is a mistake considering his consistency and production and what he means to the Kansas City offense as a whole."
Mailbag, Part II: Are Chiefs’ receivers worst in NFL, and more – Adam Teicher of ESPN.com
"That was true last season and it may be true again this year. But there’s a chance the Chiefs will be significantly better at wide receiver this year. Jeremy Maclin is an upgrade over Dwayne Bowe. Albert Wilson will be a better player than he was last year. I like what the Chiefs have planned for De’Anthony Thomas. Chris Conley has a chance to help. A lot needs to fall into place for the Chiefs at wide receiver and not all of it will. But this year’s group has more going for it than last year’s did."
Mailbag, Part I: Will rookies start for Kansas City this year, and more – Adam Teicher of ESPN.com
"That’s what the Chiefs are trying to figure out at practice right now. Obviously, Charles will be featured often. The Chiefs like their other starting wide receiver, Albert Wilson, more than people think. They also have Davis, De’Anthony Thomas, Jason Avant and Demetrius Harris when he returns from foot surgery."
