The second-string quarterback position was filled in the 2013 offseason by New Orleans Saints backup, Chase Daniel. Daniel has been a solid backup for the Chiefs, and in most fans’ opinion, he is better than a regular backup; although, most of us don’t feel confident in his abilities if put in a starting role for a consistent basis.

Then there is another signal-caller that Reid has taken under his wing: Aaron Murray.

In the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Chiefs selected Murray out of the University of Georgia.

As a redshirt freshman, Murray set a school-record 3,049 passing yards in 13 games (2nd in SEC by a freshman). His 3,216 total offensive yards as a freshman is a school record and second in SEC history. Murray also passed for 24 touchdowns- second in UGA history.

Murray finished his collegiate career as the all-time SEC career touchdown passer, and passed Tim Tebow to become the SEC’s all-time leading passer. He also became the first SEC quarterback to pass for 3,000 yards per year in four seasons, right before tearing his ACL.

Murray is a first or second-round draft pick if not for his injury, so the Chiefs got a steal in the later rounds.

So what do you think Addicts? Does Andy Reid have our next Len Dawson?
