In less than two weeks from now, we’ll find out who’ll have the privilege of joining the Kansas City Chiefs football family at the 2015 National Football League Draft live from Chicago. In anticipation of our own Live Thread covering NFL draft weekend, we here at Arrowhead Addict want to poll Addict fans everywhere and find out who their favorite five prospects for the Chiefs could be.
To kick off this process, here are the “Fav Five” as chosen by many of the Arrowhead Addict’s writers.
However, we’d like to be realistic. So, by example, Danny Shelton will not be included in my “Fav Five” but he would be my #1 if the Chiefs were drafting high enough to legitimately expect that they could select him.
Both Draftek (at #10) and CBS Sports (at #9) have Shelton ranked just beyond the reach of John Dorsey and his resources in this year’s draft (unless he drops and… I have had him appear in several online mocks). If, on the other hand, Shelton is still sitting in the green room by pick #16, a mere two picks ahead of where the Chiefs are selecting, I say bombs away. Leverage the future if you have to, but make sure you go get him — Danny Shelton is that good.
I’m sure there are those who are questioning that comment: leverage the future if you have to. However, every tape I watched of DT Danny Shelton is excellent, and rest assured, he would automatically make the Chiefs D into an elite defense.
But… se la vie… because I’m 99.9 percent sure that Andy Reid and John Dorsey will not be posing with Danny Shelton and holding up a Chiefs jersey… come April 30th. However, you’ll notice one of our other writers has chosen Shelton to be part of his “Fav Five”… so you just never know.
The point is, attempt to be realistic in your “Fav Five” choices. So, without further ado, here are the AA writer’s “Fav Five” prospects, as well as their weekly scheduled posting time:

Senior Staff Writer Monday morning
My clear top choice for the Chiefs in the first round.
Byron Jones (see picture below)
Great athlete that would make a good press CB in KC’s defense.
My favorite ILB in this draft.
Would love to see this small-school prospect compete with Kush at C.
The local product seems like a perfect fit for Reid’s offense.

Editor-in-chief All day long, everyday
In no particular order…
He’s great for Sutton’s bump-and-run coverage schemes. Best CB in the draft.
I love his route-running. He’s smooth and can really run. Reminds me of Reggie Wayne.
Great speed and instincts. I see a guy who could learn a lot from DJ and apply it.
I love his versatility. He can play strong or free, come down in the box or roam center field.
Best center in the draft. Would obviously fill a positional need.
