The Best Of The Rest

Ronald Darby – Florida State – 5’11” 193 lbs
4.38 forty, 12 bench press reps, 41.5″ vertical, 4.14 20 yard shuttle

Darby is the other talented FSU CB. While he’s faster than Williams and also has man to man experience he’s not as physical. Some scouting reports have flat out questioned his toughness. On top of that, he has ties to the Jameis Winston sexual assault allegations, so make of that what you will.

Quinten Rollins – Miami (Ohio) – 5’11” 195 lbs
4.57 forty, 14 bench press reps, 36.5″ vertical, 4.28 20 yard shuttle

Rollins is interesting because he only has one year of college football experience after playing point guard for the basketball team. He’s incredibly raw and some have said he’s better suited to play free safety, but the promise he’s shown with such limited experience is intriguing.

Alex Carter – Stanford – 6’0″ 196 lbs
4.51 forty, 17 bench press reps, 40″ vertical, 4.07 20 yard shuttle

Carter has the size/speed/strength one would look for in an outside starting CB. While he might look good on paper, most scouting reports indicate that he plays much better in zone coverage than in man to man. That might take him off the board for KC unless they think they can fix that with coaching.

Byron Jones – Connecticut – 6’1″ 199 lbs
DNP forty, DNP bench press, 44.5″ vertical, 3.94 20 yard shuttle

Jones is by far the most intriguing prospect on this second round list. While he didn’t do the forty or bench press at the combine he showed off his freakish athleticism in both the vertical jump (44.5″) and the broad jump where he set a combine record with 147″. There’s not a lot of film out there on Jones (I watched his game vs East Carolina and it was decent), but if NFL teams like what they see don’t be shocked if Jones isn’t there when KC picks in the second round.

So there you have it Addicts. My case for why KC may go with a CB in the first round of the draft and which CBs they may be targeting. What do you think? Will KC go with a CB if one they like is on the board? If they do, which guy do you like? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!!!!
