The season finale is upon us and the Kansas City Chiefs still have a shot at the playoffs. Sixteen meaningful games in a season that was supposed to be a significant step back? I’ll take it.

It’ll take a miracle, but the Kansas City Chiefs still have a shot at backing into the playoffs if a few things can bounce their way.
With a win today and losses by the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans, the Chiefs can make the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time since their string of playoff appearances from 1990-1995. That’s an accomplishment worth noting since the Chiefs have struggled as a franchise to put up consistent seasons since Marty Shottenheimer left in 1998.
San Diego is coming into today banged up. Keenan Allen is injured, they are on their fifth starting center of the season, and Philip Rivers’ back could explode at any moment. This is a beatable team for the Chiefs even with Chase Daniel starting in place of the injured Alex Smith.
Hey, anything can happen, right?
