That Small, But Exciting Gift (Cairo Santos)

Two weeks into the season, rookie kicker Cairo Santos did not look like he was going to make this list. Making only two of his first four attempts led many to declare that the Chiefs had made a huge mistake letting Ryan Succop go after the preseason. It didn’t help that Succup alone scored more points than the entire Chiefs team in a week one fiasco.

However, after those first two games, Santos has gone 19 out of 21 on field goal attempts, with a long of 53 yards. Those other two misses were practically meaningless as they came in week 15’s blowout of the Raiders. He then quickly recovered to go four for four against the Steelers the following week. A game in which Santos provided the only points for the Chiefs.

Santos is also perfect on 37 extra point attempts this year.

The numbers aren’t mind boggling, but Santos has proven to be one of the more consistent pieces in Kansas City’s arsenal this season.
