Whats Wrong With Kansas City Chiefs

Happy Anniversary Kansas City Chiefs fans!

What anniversary you ask? Why yesterday, December 8^th was the last time a Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver caught a pass for a touchdown in the regular season in over a year. Leading one to the question on everyone’s minds this year, “What is wrong with the Kansas City Chiefs?”

The Chiefs find themselves on the losing end of three straight games, leaving many to think the Chiefs 2014 playoff hopes are out the door. This team is finding ways to lose the game, and suffered another heart breaker the the Arizona Cardinals 17 to 14. Now while there were a few dropped balls the defense had that could have turned the game, the abandonment of the run game and lack of passing the ball was the undoing of the Chiefs. Now the Chiefs sit at 7-6 as their hopes for back to back playoff appearances are disappearing fast.

So what is happening to the team that won 7 of 8 games? This three game losing streak has the comments Raiders Charles Woodson said after their defeat, look like an oracle of sorts. Was the win production and the success the Chiefs were having a fluke? As fans we don’t know.

Andy Reid once again took the blame for the Chiefs loss stating that the penalties hurt the Chiefs and that they failed to execute when they had the ball. This is true, that penalties can kill drives, and failing on any side of the ball leads to losses. But more than what Reid spoke about during his post game, was the fact that the run game was once again abandoned.

We don’t know why exactly the Chiefs are continuing to abandon the run game the past three weeks. Yes, Charles was hurt early in the game but he also came back and scored on a pass from Alex Smith. So saying Charles was hurt could be an excuse, but one that is unacceptable giving the game plan for the Chiefs week after week.

While we can’t cant say for certain what exactly is going wrong with the Chiefs, the fact remains that if the Chiefs don’t right the ship they will be sitting at home come late December.
