To nobody’s surprise, the Kansas City Chiefs officially placed running back Cyrus Gray (ACL) and tight end Demetrius Harris (foot) on IR.

As Chiefs Digest’s Herbie Teope notes, Gray’s absence means more than meets the eye:

Harris, who are particularly useful in Kansas City’s three-tight end sets, showed signs of turning the corner throughout the season.

The injuries opened up two roster spots, which will be filled by running back Charcandrick West and tight end Phillip Supernaw.

Personally, West was one of the undrafted free agents who I was high on throughout the offseason. He runs like bite-sized wrecking ball but flashes NFL-caliber agility/short-area quickness.

However, like Gray, his primary role will come in the form of special teams.

Supernal has participated in three games this year for the Baltimore Ravens. He also played in one game last season for the Houston Texans.

In addition, the Chiefs signed tight end Adam Schiltz to the practice squad.
