Kansas City Chiefs Inactives: Jets vs. Chiefs

Welcome to the Eric Berry-less inactives report for the New York Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs, presented by ‘It’s About Freaking Time.’

As promised, Eric Berry is active for the Chiefs for the first time since his week two injury against the Denver Broncos. How much he will play is something to pay attention to but one would think he’ll be an active participant in the box to help slow down the Jets rushing attack. It wouldn’t be too stunning if he spied Michael Vick while Husain Abdullah and Ron Parker take over the safety positions.

A surprise active participant includes rookie safety Daniel Sorensen. Sorensen hasn’t played since the Chiefs’ week one loss to the Tennessee Titans but has been on the practice squad since during his absence from the 53-man roster. He should see some time on special teams and help out with depth due to the injuries to Jamell Fleming and Chris Owens.

Fleming, Owens, Josh Martin, and Donnie Avery are all out for today, by the way. This was expected. They’ll be joined by Aaron Murray, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, and Eric Kush as healthy inactives.

New York will sit Geno Smith after removing him as the starting quarterback this week. So if Vick in ineffective Smith will not be available to save the day.

Walter Powell, Darrin Walls, Ikemefuna Enemkpali, Dakota Dozier, Wesley Johnson, and T.J. Barnes are also inactive for the Jets.
