The Kansas City Chiefs and Royals have been next-door neighbors for 40-plus years. When one franchise is succeeding, the other is its biggest fan.
That’s never been more true than now.
Despite a slew of injuries, the Chiefs trudged through murderer’s row and came out with an above-.500 record, including an ongoing 4-1 stretch throughout their last five.
On the opposite end of the parking lot, it, at one point, looked like fate had dealt the Royals a wild-card loss. Three series, thirteen games and thousands of “I slept through my alarm” texts later, they’re on the brink of doing the unthinkable—at least, down four runs in the middle of the eighth, once seemed unthinkable to wild-card attendees.
Prior to Tuesday’s Game 6 drubbing, the Chiefs tweeted their support, posting bird’s-eye video of the Truman Sports Complex accompanied by last Sunday’s “Let’s go, Royals!” chant from Arrowhead.
