Alex Smith Participated Fully In Practice

Any worries about Alex Smith’s sprained shoulder should be taken down a few notches.

Reports from the media portion of practice state Smith was a full participant in practice today, which means he should be more than fine for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

The official report won’t come out until later today but this is obviously positive news. Losing Smith would derail a lot of the momentum the Chiefs have built up over the last six weeks, a streak where they have won four of five games and defeated the New England Patriots and red hot San Diego Chargers. Maintaining that momentum with Chase Daniel would have been difficult.

And to the end of the Chiefs momentum, Smith has been on fire since a terrible start in week one. In his last six games Smith has completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 1,294 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception. Four have his last six games have included pass ratings of at least 100.3. Pretty decent for the worst starting quarterback of all-time, no?

Meanwhile, the Geno Smith has been benched for the this week’s game against the Jets. Michael Vick will take over at quarterback.
