Injury Report: Catapano Hits IR; DAT, Charles Return; No Berry

A mixed bag of news for the Kansas City Chiefs today as they returned to practice in preparation of their Monday night game against the New England Patriots.

Mike Catapano, the seventh round draft choice of a year ago who was supposed to help the depth of the Chiefs pass rush, has been placed on season-ending injured reserve due to an illness. Terez A. Paylor reported Catapano was at the facility today and is back hanging around the team but his season is done.

There is no words as to what illness Catapano has though Andy Reid said he was making progress.

More bad news revolves around Eric Berry, whose high ankle sprain kept him out of practice today. Berry missed last Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins and has been dealing with foot injuries since before the start of the preseason. There is no immediate timetable for his return so it’s going to be more wait and see with him. Ron Parker took his spot in the starting lineup last week with Berry out.

Now onto good news. Yay.

De’Anthony Thomas and Jamaal Charles each participated in practice today, and Paylor said both looked good in the time he got to watch him.

It is good timing for Charles and Thomas to be back at practice as the Chiefs are about to face two very difficult defenses over the next two weeks. The more speed the Chiefs can have on the field to counter the power they’ll see from New England and San Francisco, the better.
