For there to be any hope this season of a winning record and an outside shot at the playoffs the Chiefs need to win this game. It is as simple as that.
Kansas City will go into the game missing at least six starters in Derrick Johnson, Mike DeVito, Jeff Allen, Donald Stephenson, and Eric Berry, and may be missing Jamaal Charles. De’Anthony Thomas, a guy the Chiefs were counting on to be a key contributor, will also miss today’s game. Winning isn’t going to be easy but it is doable.
Miami has their own injury concerns with Knowshon Moreno out for the game and the absence of Mike Pouncey at center. And those are just the key names. Guard Shelley Smith and linebacker Koa Misi will be out with injuries, and defensive end Terrence Fede and linebacker Jordan Tripp are listed as doubtful for today’s game.
A win in Miami would give the Chiefs the chance to come home for Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots with a chance to get back to .500 and put themselves back on schedule for a possible run in the second half of the season. A loss today and KC is in a very precarious position.
