Chiefs Win First Game Of The Season In Miami

Knile Davis was a beast and the Chiefs pass rush did just enough to help the Chiefs earn their first victory of the 2014 season over the Miami Dolphins, 34-15.

Davis, who started in place of the injured Jamaal Charles, rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries. The ball control along with the production was huge for a Chiefs team that was missing seven starters due to injury or suspension. It is the fourth time in Davis’ career that he has totaled more than 100 yards of offense in a game.

Travis Kelce also had a nice game, catching his first career touchdown pass and nearly hurdling a standing human.

The real secret star of this game was Joe McKnight. Yes, Joe McKnight. McKnight had two touchdowns on six catches and 64 yards. Those were the first two touchdowns of McKnight’s career.

Defensively the Chiefs now have gone three straight games without forcing a turnover, which is starting to become a concern. Fortunately the pressure on Ryan Tannehill was enough to force some errant passes and slow down their offense. Tamba Hali, Justin Houston, Dontari Poe, and Chris Owens each had sacks for the Chiefs. Dee Ford – yes, DEE FORD – had a tackle for loss and a couple of hits on the quarterback.

Kansas City has now put together two excellent games back-to-back on the road and look to be stabilizing after all of the injuries and disaster of an opener. The Chiefs now come home for a Monday night tilt against what looks like a beatable New England team. Can the Chiefs get back to .500? It would be massive if they do.
