Chiefs Fan Starts Petition To Keep Phil Simms On Broncos Broadcasts
By Ben Nielsen
Earlier this week we had a little fun with Bronco fans about their silly petition to get rid of Phil Simms from doing Broncos telecasts. We thought our effort to troll Broncos fans was a pretty decent one. Here’s a clip from it to help catch you up on the details.
"The constant media love affair with Manning and the Broncos mean CBS sends out their A-team broadcasting group of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms to most games. Simms has drawn the ire of Broncos fans as being heavily biased against the Broncos, and to show their disapproval they’ve started a petition to have him banned from doing Broncos games ever again.…Denver fans were particularly irked about a comment made during the Chiefs-Broncos broadcast yesterday where Simms said something to the effect of ‘I’m not sitting here rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs, but…” A small piece of logic would say that a guy who is forced to cover several Broncos games every year, most of which are not very entertaining games, would want the game to be close and entertaining because that makes the broadcast more exciting. So, yes, he probably was rooting a little bit for the Chiefs to not be horrible and for the game to not be over by the end of the first quarter. But logic and Broncos fans don’t always mix well."
But Chiefs fan Matthew Favazza trolling effort of the Broncos took things to a higher level.
Favazza started a petition on Change.org, the same place where Broncos fans started their petition, to KEEP Simms on Bronco broadcasts. It is a pretty fantastic move on Favazza’s part. Here’s the write up:
"Because Broncos fans can’t deal with the truth that their team gets away with calls that other teams would not and when they get called out on it in a nationally televised game, they don’t like it, even when the call goes their way. Let’s show Denver Bronco fans that the rest of the NFL fans are NOT going to let them have their way. There is a difference between being biased and using your brain!"
Well. Freaking. Played. Favazza.
Now go sign that petition, Addicts.
