4. Offensive Line
Another week, another new set of offensive linemen.
After the season-ending injury to Jeff Allen, the Chiefs are going to go with Ryan Harris at right tackle. This makes three different starting right tackles in three weeks for the Chiefs including the last preseason game.
Add into the mix Mike McGlynn who will be starting his second game with the Chiefs (presumably) and Zach Fulton playing just his second career NFL game at right guard. The instability and unknowns along the line have and will continue to cause a lot of anxiety amongst Chiefs fans.
One would expect the edges of the line should see plenty of help from Anthony Fasano and Travis Kelce throughout the afternoon. Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware are both very good outside pass rushers so getting Eric Fisher and especially Harris some help will be key for keeping Alex Smith upright.
The biggest test is going to be when the Chiefs try to run the ball up the middle. Anthony Sherman played only six snaps last week and it showed in the Chiefs inability to run the ball between the tackles. Reid needs to give the patchwork offensive line whatever help is available to him. Getting more snaps for Sherman should help in both additional pass protection and clearing a path for Jamaal.
If all else fails send Dontari Poe out there to knockout Miller. (Just kidding. Kinda.)
