De’Anthony Thomas, Jeff Allen Miss Practice Again
By Ben Nielsen
Reports from Arrowhead indicate offensive lineman Jeff Allen and running back/wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas are not participating in practice right now with the team. Twitter evidence:
This is not good news on a lot of fronts, particularly the offensive line. Should Allen miss Sunday’s game, which now seems increasingly likely, the Chiefs will be starting Mike McGlynn at left guard, rookie Zach Fulton at right guard, and Ryan Harris at right tackle. This is not a very good combination of offensive linemen to be taking to Denver. Or at least it is not the ideal group.
There are things the Chiefs can do to help out that group of linemen, such as two tight end fronts and trying to move the ball from side to side as often as possible. Some of Alex Smith’s best throws last week came while he was under pressure so the offensive line doesn’t have to be perfect. Ideally, however, you’d like your best offensive linemen to be traveling with you to your hardest road game of the season.
Meanwhile, De’Anthony Thomas is still dealing with his hamstring issue. We’ll get an update after practice about the situation but it would seem as if Thomas will miss his second straight game of the season.
