LIMITED IN PRACTICE

LB Tamba Hali (ankle/knee)

Hali was on the injury report last week for swelling in his knee. Now he is on the report after suffering a minor ankle sprain during Sunday’s loss to Tennessee. The defensive front seven really got battered in that game, no?

One would hope Hali’s limitation in practice is just a precautionary in order to keep him healthy throughout the season. However, ankle sprains can be difficult to overcome quickly and Hali is no longer a young pup who can bounce back from these kinds of things quickly.

Keep in mind Marcus Cooper was not able to recover from his ankle injury fast enough to play last week. This Hali thing is a bit of a concern and something to watch.

Some good news about Hali’s limitation is that Dee Ford should be getting more practice time in Hali’s absence. Ford really needs to see the field more as the Chiefs need both Hali and Justin Houston as fresh as possible throughout the season. Seeing only three snaps on defense Sunday was not ideal for the Chiefs, they have to find a way to get him on the field more often.
