The biggest battle of the preseason ends with a Brazilian victory. Santos takes the starting kicker job from Ryan Succop, who leaves the Chiefs as the franchise’s most accurate kicker. But Succop’s contract and lack of natural leg strength doomed him against the cheaper, big leg rookie.
One would assume Succop will find a job very quickly as several teams around the NFL are looking for a kicker. One potential landing spot is Denver where they will be without Matt Prater for the first four weeks of the season. They did trade a seventh round pick for a low-name kicker but given their playoff aspirations it wouldn’t be stunning for them to add someone like Succop.
New Orleans, Miami, and Chicago are other teams that may be looking for a kicker.
So there are your 2014 Kansas City Chiefs. What do you think of the roster and what changes would you like to see made before the start of the season?
