Meet Your 2014 Kansas City Chiefs
By Ben Nielsen
DEFENSIVE LINE
End: Allen Bailey, Jaye Howard, Mike DeVito
Inside: Dontari Poe, Vance Walker
Non-Football Injury: Mike Catapano
It is some surprise the Chiefs are rolling with five defensive linemen to start the season but maybe not too much. The Chiefs defensive scheme has changed to something of a 2-3-6 which means the Chiefs typically have only two defensive linemen on the field while Tamba Hali and Justin Houston attack from the edge.
The decision to run with five guys may have been related to what the Chiefs are tyring to do in other areas of the roster. Otherwise one would have thought Kyle Love would have made the roster as the sixth lineman. There is still that possibility Kansas City is able to add him down the road.
Mike Catapano’s placement on the non-football injury list is of concern. He has been battling an illness for what seems like a month now. What is going on with him is unknown but it is getting to the point where you’re starting to seriously worry about his personal health.
