Won a spot: CB DeMarcus Van Dyke

The former Raiders 3rd-round pick has looked like the best defensive back on the Chiefs’ roster this preseason. He entered the league as a raw project with Al Davis’ coveted speed, but failed to develop his skills in the Black Hole. So far in Kansas City, he has been the only corner who consistently stays with his man and has ticked pass defended stats in every game. I’m not sure where the Chiefs will find him best suited in their merry-go-round CB rotation, but I feel much more comfortable with him on the field than the three guys at the top of the depth chart — Ron Parker, Marcus Cooper and Sean Smith.
