Kicker: Cairo Santos
Long Snapper: Thomas Gafford
Keeping Santos as the team’s kicker makes the most sense for the Chiefs on just about every level. He has the biggest leg, the most upside, and the more favorable contract. Succop is the team’s most accurate kicker in team history so there is something to be said for keeping him, and I wouldn’t be too upset if the Chiefs went that route. But Santos makes too much sense for the Chiefs to let him walk to another team.
It wouldn’t stun me if the Chiefs maneuvered their roster to open up a spot to keep both kickers for another week while they tried to trade one of them. So that possibility still exists for if a team is so desperate for a kicker they are willing to make a trade. If so, the Chiefs are probably getting a seventh round pick back in compensation.
