1. The Offensive Line

This offensive line is just offensive (to say pun intended would be an understatement).

Eric Fisher looks like he’s going to be a huge bust and could shatter the faith Chiefs fans have in John Dorsey. Granted, he went up against one of the best front sevens in football in Carolina, but Denver has Von Miller and perennial hall-of-famer DeMarcus Ware on the edges, and the Chiefs see them in Denver in week 2. He also looked pretty miserable in their games against Cincinatti and Minnesota.

To make matters worse, right tackle Donald Stephenson, who some consider the Chiefs’ best offensive lineman, went and got himself suspended for 4 games because he did not ask the trainers if a certain substance was ok to use. The NFL said Stephenson violated their performance enhancing drug policy.

To recap, Fisher is lethargic, Stephenson cannot play, and the Chiefs will most likely NOT exercise their best option, which would be moving offensive guard Jeff Allen to right tackle where he played in college.

Reid will most likely put in a guy like Ryan Harris. If the Chiefs wanted to save Alex Smith, they would move Allen over to right tackle, move current center Rodney Hudson over to guard and put backup center Eric Kush in as the starting center. 2014 sixth round pick Zach Fulton, who has struggled mightily in the preseason, would remain at right guard.

Alex Smith will most likely be in the top 5 category of “Most Sacked Quarterback of 2014.”
