The safety position seems to have three guys who are locks – Eric Berry, Husain Abdullah, and Daniel Sorensen. One would think that given the rest of the defensive backs on the roster the Chiefs will carry at least one more safety on the team.
The leader for the remaining spot may be Bronson, who has been all over the field in his preseason snaps and has intercepted a pass. In three targets against him Bronson has allowed only one catch for five yards. Unfortunately that one catch was a touchdown pass in the Vikings game. He’s been okay against the run which is probably something the Chiefs are going to want to see improve tonight.
Bronson got a long look last week and figures to get another one this week. With his flexibility has a corner, nickel back, and safety, he would seem to be a guy who would be attractive for the Chiefs to keep. One more big play and some consistency in the running game could be enough to earn him a spot on the roster.
